COUNCIL TAX FOR 2017/18 SET BUT PLAY PARKS UNDER THREAT

The Council heard at its November meeting how repairs to Play Park equipment and particularly safety surfacing are absorbing large amounts of the precept – it was acknowledged that there may come a time when the Play Parks need to be closed. The Council made some hard decisions regarding next year’s precept/Council Tax and whilst it agreed to continue with the Parish Lengthsman as the pilot project has been very much appreciated by residents, it decided it could not raise the precept further to undertake various capital expenditure projects including work to its Play Parks. The Band D Council Tax will therefore be increased next year by £4.79 to £50.25 which equates to an increase of 40 pence per month or 9 pence per week.
