AFFORDABLE HOUSING CONSULTATION EVENTS FEEDBACK

The full report by Devon Rural Housing Partnership detailing the consultation feedback can be found on the Parish Council’s website. In summary, there was 75% support for the Hennock site and 55% support for the Chudleigh Knighton site although only 7% of respondents supported a scheme of over 30 dwellings. The Council considered the report at its November meeting and it agreed that the Housing Enablers at Teignbridge District Council should move forward with the Hennock scheme. It also agreed that they should go ahead with viability testing for the Chudleigh Knighton site with a view to reducing the overall numbers to in the region of 30 based on 20 affordable dwellings and 10 open market dwellings.

HELP TO HEAT GRANT SCHEME

Teignbridge District Council is working in partnership with a number of companies to help residents to improve the warmth and comfort of their homes.  Grants are available for replacement boilers, replacement electric storage heaters and insulation. There is some information on Teignbridge District Council’s website but to find out more, or to register for a free no obligation survey, residents can email housing@teignbridge.gov.uk or call the Housing Team on 01626 215202.

WW2 INFORMATION BOARD SITE ON CHUDLEIGH KNIGHTON HEATH

The Council has installed a WW2 information board on Chudleigh Knighton Heath – the Heath was used during the war for storage and as a base for an American regiment and some elderly residents in the Parish asked the Council to mark it as a memorial before their memory disappears. This project has been supported by the WW2 US Medical Research Centre, the Airfield Research Group and Teignbridge District Council. Particular thanks go to Steven Chown, a local historian, for his extensive research. To visit the board, if you park in the Play Park car park and follow the Ant Trail to the end of Black Path, continue on the trail across the road, you will reach it in about 20 minutes – it is about 200 yards in from the road.
